#1 Tip in Production Technology, or just Technology for that Matter


This will be rule #1 for this blog.

Always stay on top of new developments for technology you are using and that of technologies that are relevant to your workflow or field of work.

This means reading up on new product releases to see what has been changed or modified and if this will have an effect on your projects or if it can enhance your project quality or manifestation per se.

Taking into consideration that we are not always financially ready to buy every single new development that is released, there are some investments that need to be made and can have a major return if applied properly. This blog-spot will be focusing attention on this subject in future blogs, there will be examples of how to maneuver in an effective way when it comes to maintaining the technology used in your work station.

Software is definitely a must in today's production work flows, especially home project studio and up and coming start-up studios. Develop a good knowledge of your software provider and host. The software provider is the developer of the software you are using and the host is the developer of the Operating System you are using. Software and Operating Systems get updated frequently but this does not necessarily mean you have to update your current version. Often times Operating System updates are mere graphical interface and security enhancements and therefore might involve a shuffling of primary feature characteristic efficiency, causing software to be incompatible with Operating System developments to the point that Software developers have no choice but to update their software. As long as you have a compatible O.S. and functioning software you are good to go and if working on a tight budget might benefit from existing Economic trends that are present with frequent technological enhancements. This is a very broad subject matter and is a very important one that has crept it's way in to the Music and Film Production Industry for those of us on a tight budget that are looking to attain the basic tools that allow us to practice our craft. Because of ongoing research in entertainment production technology, new releases might not always be the better move. Do your research, know your gear, and check back with us frequently and you will be in the know as far as maintaining your work station is concerned.

In Summary, stay on top of new developments in the technology you are using in order to make an educated decision as to the need to purchase a new release of that technology which you are using. New developments might be beneficial or they might eliminate features necessary in your current work.
